Lucia has arrived

Yesterday, Riley and I went to meet the breeder at the Southington dog park (which I love-and so does Riley). While Riley was playing with the other dogs (mainly a beagle and the breeder's puggle), I got to spend time with Lucia ("LuLu" for short) and talk to the breeder and other "Parents" that were there. Lucia is a 2nd generation puggle so her fur is softer and she took on more of the beagle coloring. So far, so good with the two of them...except Lucia likes Riley's bed and her water dish...which I'm not so sure Riley is willing to share right now!

some recent updates

Here are some pictures of some recent updates we've done to the house:

Our new island in the kitchen...which I L-O-V-E! Antique white cabinets, Giallo Ornamental granite to match the counter tops and thanks to my mom, dad, sister, and grandma we have stools to accommodate our Sunday dinners! (The got us the flower centerpiece and the stools for our 1st Anniversary!)

The 4th of July was great! We had a picnic at my parents house and got to spend time with family we haven't seen in a while. Among some of the activities for the day was...

The deck is complete!!!! Richie finished the railing on the stairs this weekend and did a great job! It looks amazing! We also go flowers for our flower boxes. They definitely add some interest to the front of the house...or at least I think so!

Things being accomplished...

First of all I'd like to start off with the fact that today was a gorgeous 1st day of July, hence the picture of the goregous blue sky below!!!! Second, the deck is coming along thanks to Richie and my father. They have been spending the past few Sundays getting the deck put together. All we have left is the stair railings, which of course are the hardest part. I'm confident that they can get it completed! It looks awesome though!

Third, this week we had a company named DGB Construction come in and put up crown molding in a few rooms, and chair rail in the kitchen. I love how it looks...completely finishes off the rooms, but of course I've been now filling in nail holes and caulking (which I HATE!)...and I also have to paint the trim as well. Hopefully I can begin painting some of the trim tomorrow. My mom also helped me to paint our master bedroom yellow and I decided to make the wall our bed is on a complimentary brown.
